接触痕とは?

接触痕とは、コインが他の物体と直接的かつ持続的に接触した結果生じる表面上の欠陥全般を指します。これには、ロールやスラブ内の隣接するコインとの擦れ、フィットしにくいホルダーによる摩擦、取り扱い中の偶発的な接触などが含まれます。これらの痕跡は、細かい擦り傷、擦れ、またはコイン本来の光沢の局所的な消失として現れます。貨幣学において、これらは使用による摩耗(アクティブな使用によって生じるもの)とは区別されます。なぜなら、接触痕は保管や取り扱いに起因するものであり、特にUncirculated (MS) やProofの標本において、コインのグレードに直接影響を与える審美的な欠陥だからです。

価格への影響

接触痕の存在は、グレードの減点要因となります。軽度で目立たない接触痕があるMS-65のコインは、完璧な状態の同種コインの価値の80〜90%程度で取引される可能性があります。もし痕跡が重度で目立つ場合、あるいは主要なデザイン要素を覆い隠している場合は、減額は50%を超えることもあります。例えば、完璧な状態の$1,000相当の銀貨が、広範囲にわたる顕著な接触による擦れがある場合、$400〜$500に下がる可能性があります。低グレードのコイン(例:AU)に見られる微細なヘアラインの傷は、価格への影響は無視できる程度です。

見分け方
