合金とは?

意味するもの

貨幣学において、合金とはコインを製造するために使用される特定の金属の混合物です。単に「金属」というわけではなく、正確な化学組成を指します。純金属コインは単一の元素(例:純銀)から作られます。合金コインは二つ以上の金属を組み合わせたもの(例:銅と亜鉛)です。この組成がコインの固有価値を決定します。コレクターが主に気にすることは、その合金が貴金属(金、銀、プラチナ)か卑金属(銅、青銅、ニッケル)かという点です。これらの金属の特定の比率が、コインの公称的な地金含有量や純度を決定します。

価格への影響

合金を証明することが、最高額を確保する最も速い方法です。正確な地金含有量(例:「925スターリングシルバー」または「10kゴールド」)を記載することで、すぐに買い手を絞り込み、より高い価格設定を正当化できます。最も価値のある証拠は、金属組成を明記した第三者認証(PCGS/NGC)です。認証がない場合は、コインの縁や表面にあるホールマークや分析スタンプを示す鮮明なマクロ写真が、合金の主張を裏付けるための最低限の要件となります。
