There is zero discernible wear: no paint chips, scuffs on plastic, fading of colors, or damage to accessories. The mainstream equivalent is "new in box" (NIB) or "collector grade," but "mint" implies a higher standard—flawless presentation, often suggesting the item was never opened.

What it does to price

Mint condition places an item at the highest valuation tier. A mint, CIB figure typically commands a premium of 1.5x to 3x compared to a near-mint or loose version, depending on the rarity of the item. The presence of original, undamaged packaging is the primary price driver. Minor flaws, such as a small crease on the outer box or a missing interior plastic tray, can drop the price by 15-25%. For a common, mass-market figure, the difference might be negligible, but for a rare, limited-edition piece, a mint grade can easily add hundreds of dollars to the final sale price.

How to spot it

Spotting mint requires scrutiny of both the figure and the packaging. For the figure, check articulation joints for any stress marks or discoloration. Examine paint applications under magnification for uniformity; any overspray or rubbing is a fault. For the packaging, look for print clarity on the cardback and box seams. Common issues include "shelf wear" (light rubbing on corners) or "dent damage." Sellers must provide high-resolution photos of all edges and corners.
