"Import" (hàng nhập khẩu) trong giới sưu tập vinyl đề cập đến bất kỳ đĩa nào được sản xuất hoặc phân phối bên ngoài thị trường nội địa chính (ví dụ: Mỹ, Anh, EU). Điều này khác với bản pressing nội địa, vốn được sản xuất cho thị trường địa phương. Hàng import không chỉ đơn thuần là đĩa được vận chuyển quốc tế; chúng là các bản pressing khác biệt về mặt vật lý—có các số matrix, kỹ sư mastering, hoặc bao bì riêng biệt cho khu vực nước ngoài. Các dấu hiệu đáng tin cậy nhất là quốc gia sản xuất được in trên nhãn đĩa (ví dụ: "Made in Japan") và các vết khắc trong rãnh chạy (số matrix/stamper). Các khu vực khác nhau sử dụng các mã mastering khác nhau. Ví dụ, một bản pressing của Mỹ sẽ có các mã matrix khác biệt so với bản pressing châu Âu của cùng một album. Người bán phải cung cấp ảnh chất lượng cao, rõ nét về nhãn đĩa và khu vực deadwax để xác thực. Sai sót thường xảy ra khi người bán nhầm lẫn một bản pressing nội địa tiêu chuẩn thành hàng import.

Mua sắm thông minh

Việc trả thêm tiền cho một bản import là hợp lý khi biến thể đó được chứng minh là hiếm, có hình ảnh nghệ thuật độc đáo, hoặc đại diện cho một bản mastering cụ thể, được mong muốn (ví dụ: một bản pressing Nhật Bản được biết là chất lượng cao hơn).
