プレスエラーとは?

意味するもの

プレスエラーとは、レコード製造中に意図されたマスターレコーディングや製造仕様から逸脱したあらゆる状態のことです。これは単なる摩耗ではなく、プレス自体に内在する欠陥です。エラーは主に音響的(sonic)なものと視覚的(visual)なものに分類されます。音響エラーには、溝やマスタリング工程に起因するポップ、クリック、スキップ、不要な表面ノイズなどが含まれます。視覚エラーには、モールドの不完全さ、スプラッター(インクの飛び散り)、誤ったラベリング、色の彩度の不一致などが含まれます。コレクターの分野ではこの用語は広範ですが、その価値は、そのエラーが文書化された望ましいバリアント(「既知のエラー」)なのか、それとも単なるランダムな製造上の欠陥なのかにかかっています。

価格への影響

見分ける方法

エラーを見つけるには、スリーブ(ジャケット)以上の精査が必要です。音響的な問題については、再生が必須であり、複数のトラックで一貫したアーティファクト(異常音)がないか耳を傾ける必要があります。視覚的なエラーについては、明るい光の下でレコードを検査し、モールドの線や、既知のサンプルと比較してレコードの色の彩度に不一致がないか確認します。販売者は、プレス詳細を確認するために、ランアウトグルーブ(ラベルの近くの領域)の高解像度写真を提示しなければなりません。検証可能な音声証拠なしに「ユニークなアーティファクト」を主張する販売者には注意が必要です。正直なミスはしばしば軽微な表面の擦り傷ですが、意図的なエラーは通常、プレスロット全体にシステム的に存在しています。

賢く購入する

プレスエラーに対してプレミアムを支払うのは、そのエラーが文書化されており、希少で、ターゲットバイヤーにとって審美的または音響的に魅力的な場合(例:コンプリーションリストのコレクターが求める特定のカラーバリエーション)にのみ正当化されます。もしそのエラーがリスニング体験を損なうランダムで目立つ欠陥である場合、プレミアムは不当です。公正な取引とは、プレミアムを考慮に入れた上で、提示価格が標準プレス市場価値の1.5倍未満であることです。エラーがカタログ化されていないか特定できない場合は、販売者がその独自性を証明できない限り、標準コピーとして扱うべきです。
