ビデオゲームの収集において、「exploit」とは、ゲームのプログラミング内に存在する機能的なバグや意図しない相互作用のことです。これにより、プレイヤーは意図されたゲームルールを回避し、無限の通貨や進行制限の迂回、意図された労力やコストなしでのレアアイテム入手といった優位性を得ることができます。これは、意図された機能である「シークレット」や「イースターエッグ」とは異なります。文書化されたexploitの存在は、そのアイテムの希少性とゲームプレイ体験の認識される信憑性に直接関係します。

価格への影響

価格への影響は、exploitの深刻度とアイテム全体の希少性によって大きく異なります。軽微でゲームを壊さないexploit(例:わずかなグラフィックの不具合)は、ほとんど影響しません。もしそのexploitが、高価値で限定的なコンテンツ(例:非常に求められるコスメティックアイテムを即座にアンロックするなど)を容易に手に入れられるようにする場合、希少性プレミアムが打ち消されるため、アイテムの価値は通常15〜40%下落します。逆に、ニッチな「glitch-hunting」(バグ探し)コレクターにとっては、ゲーム自体が目立たない場合、文書化された複雑なexploitは価値を20〜50%上昇させる可能性があります。
