シルバーエイジとは?

意味するもの

コミックにおけるシルバーエイジは、おおよそ1956年から1970年頃を指しますが、定義によってはもう少し後まで及ぶこともあります。ゴールデンエイジに続き、初期のスーパーヒーローブームを超えてジャンルが爆発的に多様化したのが特徴です。スーパーヒーローは中心的な存在であり続けましたが、この時代には、コミック・コード・オーソリティ(CCA)による厳格な監視が完全に施行される前に、SF、ファンタジー、ロマンス、ホラーといったタイトルが主流になりました。この用語は特定の美学を指すのではなく、出版期間を指しますが、アートスタイルは前時代とは明確に異なります。価値は画一的ではありません。この期間の重要な初期登場作品は、同じ10年代のマイナーなタイトルよりも桁違いに高価になることがあります。

価格への影響

状態が最も重要な決定要因です。需要の高いシルバーエイジのタイトルでNear Mint (NM) のコピーは、同等のGood (GD) のコピーの5倍から15倍の価格になることがあります。CGCで9.0以上のスラブに入ったコピーは、未鑑定の同じ本のコピーよりも通常2倍から4倍のプレミアムがつきます。低グレードのコピー(FairからPoor)は、状態よりも希少性に基づいて価格設定されることが多く、単に希少性だけで価値を保つこともあります。逆に、この時代の一般的なタイトルは、キーとなる作品の価値の10%を超えることはめったにありません。例えば、NM状態の重要な初登場号は1,500ドルで取引されるかもしれませんが、同じ年の同じ状態の一般的なタイトルは15ドルで売れるかもしれません。
