コンディションとは、コミックの客観的な物理的状態のことです。それは、作品全体にわたる摩耗と劣化を定量化するものです。これには、紙の完全性(破れ、もろさ)、色の飽和度(色褪せ)、構造的完全性(背表紙のストレス、しわ)、およびエッジの完全性(角の傷み、丸まり)が含まれます。業界では、主観的な摩耗を定量的な指標に変換するために、標準化されたグレーディングスケール(例:CGC、CBCS、または主観的な数値グレード9.8、6.0など)を使用しています。「Near Mint」(ニアミント)というグレードは、その年代に見合った最小限の取り扱い痕跡しか見られないことを意味し、「Fair」(フェア)というグレードは、目立つ重大なダメージがあることを示します。これは内容に関するものではなく、純粋に物理的なオブジェクトの保存状態に関するものです。
